Three days after being sent back to the minor leagues, Jenrry Mejia made his first start for the Binghamton Mets (AA).

Mejia pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing one run, two hits, 3 K, 2 BB, facing nine batters. He threw 42 pitches (24 strikes) with his fast reportedly hitting between 95-97 miles per hour.

B-Mets manager Tim Teufel was asked about Mejia after the game:

“It’s so hard to tell when he’s only out there for such a short amount of time. I can’t wait until he extends his outings to a place where he’s throwing at least 80 pitches.”

Mejia is scheduled to start again Sunday, on three days rest.

The B-Mets lost the game to New Britian 10-2. Read the gane report in the Binghamton Press & Sun Bulletion here.
