Mets chillin' at home

The New York Mets (47-38) were cooled off by the Cincinnati Reds at Citi Field this week. The Reds downed the Mets 3-1 in the rubber game of a three game series.

The Mets are 29-14 at home. They open a three-game series against the Atlanta Braves Friday night.

Jonathon Niese (6-3, 3.61 ERA) was very good, pitching 7 2/3 innings, allowing three runs, six hits, eight strikeouts and one walk (99 pitches/63 strikes). Niese also doubled in the game.

Angel Pagan was 2-for-4 with a home run, accounting to for the only Mets run of the game.

Josh Thole went 2-for-3 with a walk. Thole is his short stint with the Mets is batting .538.
